It’s been a while since I made one of these lists, and I’ve been discovering so many new things that I think it’s time to share a few. Enjoy your autumn!
- I’m making this beautiful chili tonight.
- I’ve started writing a column for the McGill chapter of an online magazine. Thus far: babaganoush and braised plums with chantilly cream.
- One of my roommates keeps making waffles, and I am terribly jealous. I have been researching gluten-free recipes and this one is top of my list.
- My friend Stephanie and I are drooling over these. A dinner must happen soon.
- I finally saw Master and Commander after at least a year of being told I should.
- It was recently pointed out to me that I’ve never had pumpkin pie. Or at least, if I have, the event was so unexceptional that I have utterly erased it from my memory. Gluten Free Girl has the answer, and Thanksgiving’s only a few weeks away!
- I’ve managed to squeeze some poetry into my September.
- Somehow Yotam Ottolenghi came up in conversation with a neurology professor. I can’t recall ever trying one of his recipes, so this is going to be my first.
- I’ve started rehearsals for a production of The Bacchae! If you cannot come, at least read the play. Beautiful and terrifying.
- We’re rehearsing some Brahms in my choir. Life is very beautiful.
- Life will be even more beautiful once I pluck up the courage to start experimenting with GF baking and adapt this recipe.

Hi Lizzy! I’ve been popping in on your blog every once in a while to read your recipes and gorgeous prose, and I noticed that you’ve joined the tribe of Gluten-Free. Welcome! I forget how I found this site, but Gluten-Free Goddess has some amazing recipes. A lot of them are processed-sugar-free as well, in addition to a bunch of other things. I can personally vouch for her oatmeal raisin cookies, as they are utterly delicious.

Kate! Thank you for welcoming me to the tribe—it’s not one I particularly wanted to join, but I certainly feel better now I’m here. I haven’t tried anything from Gluten-Free Goddess yet, but I will certainly do so. Oatmeal raisin cookies sound like a good place to start!
We should arrange a reunion of the old Pocket Flyers guard sometime soon. Possibly involving some delicious gluten-free baked goods. (Are you and I the GF PFs now?) In any case, thank you for stopping by, and watch for an email soon.
